Picture-Perfect City by the River

Lifestyle Switzerland Travel Zurich

It only takes a couple of hours to be surprised and amazed: Welcome to Zurich!

Not every time when you visit a city you find yourself astonished, with the feeling that you were there before—deja vu. Nevertheless, that’s exactly how I felt in Zurich: astonished, amazed, and with the feeling of deja vu in the pit of my stomach.

The most amazing thing for me was that this city had a striking resemblance to Paris. Maybe all European cities in some ways look alike, yet this city for me was like being back in Paris. It’s a city that is built around the Limmat River—like Paris on the Siena River—that flows through it. Both cities are rich in culture, history, and scrumptious food. Much like Paris, this Swiss city is full of mesmerizing early medieval architecture and picturesque scenery. Walking through Zurich’s streets, or by the river, I got to view the inner city’s busy life, where businessmen enjoy their lunch and seem to be in no hurry to get back to their business. It happens to be the only city I have seen where businessmen look good (refreshed), and not stressed out by work. Also, this city is divided by the river into two different lifestyles. One side is loaded with expensive boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants, unlike the other side, that is full of simple boutiques, less expensive restaurants, and souvenir shops. What is common for both sides—they are full of on goers, and breathtaking cityscape views.

A visit to the global finance and banking center of the world sure left me in awe and wanting to come back for more.
